Art influences art. Long before I was a writer I was an avid reader. I was that kid that came out of the library with the stack of books only to disappear all weekend in my room to devour those books. Summertime especially, I tend to devour books. It both provides me a place to recharge my batteries and inspires my own creativity.
So, what have I just finished reading? The Omnibus Edition of the Goblin Breeder series by Micky Carre.
Available here: Goblin Breeder Omnibus on Amazon
Overall I enjoyed the story. The premise is Andrea, a human, is summoned to the world of the goblins to be their savior. An evil minotaur has rendered all male goblins infertile and threatens to wipe out their civilization. Their only hope is that Andrew will be able to create a new generation of goblins, crossed with humans, and defeat the evil minotaur.
The first book does tend to focus more on the breeding part, but Micky does quite a bit of world building within it. There is some action and as the books progress, less focus on the breeding and more on the world building. The sex scenes are fun and as you go further through the series there are less of them but the author still puts in good effort into creating a fun scene. The only real complaint I have is that sometimes the action scenes felt too short compared to all of their buildup.
Still, I enjoyed the series, the creativity of world building, and the variety of characters enough that it was an easy page turner and one I’d happily recommend reading.
Maybe I should consider writing a few more goblin based stories. What do you think?
